Items we can’t accept

At Reverse Garbage we would love to say ‘yes’ to all your great efforts in helping us divert valuable materials from landfill, but unfortunately there are some materials we just cannot accept.

As we want to re-inject resources and materials back into our community as quickly as possible, we must keep stock in our warehouse moving. We have little storage space and can only accept items we are sure there will be some immediate/reasonable demand for. In addition, we can strictly only accept materials we know are clean, safe and suitable for reuse.

Of course, we recommend thinking about how you may be able reuse your items in your own home and community.

A few of the things we can’t take:

  • Books , Magazines, CD & DVD media (except blank), vinyl records and VHS tapes.
  • Electrical items and appliances
  • Clothes
  • MDF, Fibro, chipboard
  • Damaged & Disassembled furniture. We accept some furniture, email photos to:
  • Beds and mattresses
  • Dirty or unsafe materials
  • Used cardboard for recycling
  • Household waste
  • Most household appliances (exceptions for working sewing machines, typewriters etc.)
  • Lever Arch Files
  • eWaste including CRT Televisions & Monitors (these can be recycled through TechCollect, enquiries: 1300 229 837)
  • Used computer peripherals such as used ink cartridges, toner etc.
  • Brick-a-Brack: glasses, dishware, cutlery etc.

Can you accept a car boot load of 400x400mm Carrara marble & limestone & some ceramic tile (including offcuts) left over from some bathroom & laundry renovations? The marble tiles may need a bit of cleaning.

Do you accept small sheets of coloured glass (lead lighting) as well as bigger clear glass sheets? Also have some bevelled edge glass- perspex, lots of timber, old hand tools etc. Cleaning out the remains of my late father’s shed. Or do you come out and look, collect?

Hi Lorikart – we would accept those items. If you’re able to come by our warehouse our backdock staff will be able to take what you have and let you know anything we aren’t able to take. Our backdock is open until 4pm daily, except Sundays when it is completely closed due to the markets. Thanks for your donations! RG
