Reverse Garbage announced today that Dare Kavanagh has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Community Co-Operative, effective immediately.
Yvette Andrews, Reverse Garbage President, said that Dare Kavanagh brings to the organisation substantial experience from the public, not-for-profit and private sector, as well as significant leadership experience and an understanding of membership based organisations.
“Dare has the combination of local and overseas experience in all aspects of social enterprise management. Dare has been a long-term supporter of Reverse Garbage and actively practices reuse, so we believe she is a perfect fit for the organisation and the ethos of Reverse Garbage.”
“It’s a very exciting time to join Reverse Garbage as CEO,” said Dare Kavanagh. “This year Reverse Garbage celebrates an incredible 40 years of saving resources form landfill and educating the community about reuse and sustainability. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute my skills and experience to this important Sydney institution. I look forward to working with the team of staff at Reverse Garbage, the Board of Directors, our Members and volunteers to continue the ongoing success of Reverse Garbage.”
“Some of the areas I will be focusing on immediately will be increasing opportunities for members and volunteers to be actively involved with the organisation, as well as broadening the range of creative materials available at Reverse Garbage.”
As such, Reverse Garbage will be holding a huge Xmas Street Party Sale on 12th and 13th of December where customers can get their Christmas presents and stocking fillers at very low prices.
“The sale of these items will open up spaces in our reuse centre to offer new and exciting materials for customers. The day will also have a street festival flare with food, live music and reuse activities for families. I look forward to introducing myself and chatting with customers about Reverse Garbage throughout the day.”
