Our friends at Sydney Playground Project (Macquarie Uni), KU Professional Learning and Reverse Garbage Educators are offering professional development seminars on hot topics. Some of these will have NESA accreditation!

1hr Hands on Creative Workshops – just $22
The Reverse Garbage team has been developing fun and interesting workshop ideas to inspire and upskill! Some include making on- the-spot creations for your centre!

45min Tour – ONLY ONE TOUR THIS REPLAY– just $11
See reuse in action! Our amazing neighbours, at the Addison Road Early Learning Centre are opening their doors to show participants how they have included loose parts and other reuse materials in their centre.

Professional Learning Seminar  Rethink the Collage Trolley Monday 4th Sept 9.30-11.30am $66
This workshop will ask participants to question materials that are used with children, including why they are selected and how these choices can strengthen a vision toward a more sustainable world. Participants will have the opportunity to explore items from Reverse Garbage and bring these together with natural resources.

Workshop Making 2D art with Re-use Monday 4th Sept 1-2pm $22

With heaps of Reverse Garbage materials on hand turn your morning Rethink the Collage Trolley workshop into a practical hands-on art work that you can take back to your centre to inspire the children and educators.

Professional Learning Seminar NESA accredited Understanding Schemas with KU Professional Services Tuesday 5th Sept 9.30-11.30am  $66

This session will explore a contemporary understanding of schemas, a repeatable pattern of behaviour that children engage in to explore and express their developing ideas, thoughts and understanding of the world. This session will look at how loose parts, as well as other open-ended objects, can support the development of a schema-supportive environment.

NESA endorsed

Completing Understanding of Schemas will contribute 2 hours of registered PD addressing 1.1.2 and 2.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards of Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accredation in NSW.

Workshop DIY Texture Board  Tuesday 4th Sept 1-2pm $22
The very young explore the world through texture and sensory experiences. Explore Reverse Garbage materials whilst our educator guides you through creating a sensory board for use at your centre.
Professional Learning Seminar  Exploring STEM with Re-use Wednesday 6th Sept 9.30-11.30am $66
Scientific investigation is a great way for young children to explore their world and become independent learners. STEM is an important part of programming for early years and it does not have to be difficult. Reverse Garbage’s own educator Rachel Rothwell will present clear and simple ways to make science an everyday part of your centre’s activities. Rachel has many years of experience teaching science to kids and training adults too. She will also demonstrate science experiments so simple – they are child’s play!

Tour Re-Use in action – Tour of Addison Rd Childcare Centre Thursday 7th Sept 9.30-10.15am $11
Under Maria Pappas’ direction the Addison Road Children’s Centre has exceeded Nation Quality Standards for all aspects of sustainability. Maria will lead a tour of the Centre (next door to Reverse Garbage) and discuss the ways they have integrated Reverse Garbage materials in all aspects of the Centre’s program.
Please note that due to the limited number of attendees each centre is restricted to two particpants only.
Workshop Create your own STEM trolley  Wednesday 6th 1-2pm $22
Join this workshop to learn how you can use Reverse Garbage materials to create a STEM trolley so that you can conduct simple and low cost science experiments with children in your centre.

Workshop  War on Waste – We Can Make a Difference  Thursday 7th Sept 1-2pm  $22 
Join us to learn about every day practicle ways to imbed sustainabe practices in your centre. Take it further than just the recycling bin – you too can reduce, reuse, recycle and refuse.

Professional Learning Seminar  Loose Parts Play with Macquarie University Friday 8th Sept 9.30-11.30am $66
Loose Parts Play is ideal for establishing an environment that encourages exploration, choice, curiosity, creativity. Random open ended items encourage problem solving and skill development while exploring new and unfamiliar objects.
Seek and find loose parts options that you can use in your centre.
