Workshops & DIY

When you choose to reuse, you save valuable resources from going to waste – and you get to enjoy the creative pride of DIY! If you need us, we’re here to help with workshops, events, project ideas and some crazy inspiration…

Public workshops and events

We get out and about a lot!

You’ll find our fun creative reuse workshops at community events, festivals, and shopping centres – or here at Reverse Garbage during the school holidays.

School holiday fun

Our school holiday workshops are a treat. With small class sizes and at only $25 per child, you will need to book early. Clink on the workshop title to go to the booking page.

MYO Kokedama
2.30-4.30pm on Thursday, 11 July 2019
We’ll guide the children through upcycling rescued materials to create their own Japanese kokedama – a hanging moss ball – to house a living plant. It would be a great gift for Fathers’ Day.

Tinkering with tools  – FULL
2.30-4.30pm on Monday, 15 July 2019
We’ll show the children how to safely pull things apart to explore what makes them work. The components they discover will be reused when they are challenged to make their own dream machine or sculpture.

MYO games
2.30-4.30pm on Tuesday, 16 July 2019
Create their very own games out of reuse and recycled materials. Be prepared to see water bottle skittles, marble runs, board games made with cardboard and bottle tops – and much more.

Sculpture
2.30-4.30pm on Thursday, 18 July 2019
Children create their own sculpted masterpiece from reuse resources.  The children will learn about balance, how to manipulate materials to create artistic form and emerge with a new appreciation for reuse resources.

To infinity and beyond
2.30-4.30pm on Friday, 19 July 2019
Take inspiration from Andy and his friends, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jesse and use our shiny, stretchy, springy and funky reuse  resources like industrial off-casts and e-waste materials to build the ultimate 3D space station, satellites, a lunar model or rockets.
