In 2025, Reverse Garbage turns 50. For half a century, we’ve been rescuing materials from landfill and putting them into the hands of artists, educators, makers and community members. What began in 1975 as a small reuse initiative is now one of Australia’s most loved creative reuse centres — and we’re marking this incredible milestone with a massive birthday celebration.
Our spaces will be transformed into a lively festival hub, packed with hands-on workshops, live music, food stalls, panel talks, a fashion parade and more.

- Creative workshops including a crafting long table and drop-in ‘Sustainable Cities’ activation
- Panel discussions exploring climate action, creative reuse, the history of Reverse Garbage and local sustainability solutions
- Reuse fashion parade with prizes for kids and adults
- Live music, food trucks and local makers
- History wall and archive displays celebrating 50 years of community impact
