LOCATION: Based at Reverse Garbage, 30 Carrington Road, Marrickville with both onsite and offsite delivery.

Reverse Garbage is seeking a passionate Casual Educator to join our creative reuse education team.
Through our education programs, Reverse Garbage is on a mission to make reuse creative, practical and accessible through hands-on learning. Our workshops use creative reuse materials to help participants explore sustainability and waste reduction in curriculum-linked ways. Programs may focus on areas such as circular economy, textile waste, design thinking, motion and forces, and community sustainability.
Started by teachers in 1975, Reverse Garbage has always had sustainability education at its heart. Today, our programs are delivered across schools, early learning centres, vacation care, community events, professional development sessions and corporate settings. Our programs are hands-on and designed to support curriculum outcomes where relevant, including the Early Years Learning Framework and NSW curriculum.
We are looking for someone who can confidently learn to deliver our suite of hands-on programs, helping participants explore sustainability and learn through creative reuse.

On a day-to-day basis, you will
- Deliver Reverse Garbage education programs onsite and offsite across various locations.
- Facilitate hands-on creative reuse activities that explore sustainability, waste reduction and circular economy concepts.
- Adapt delivery to suit different age groups, abilities, learning needs and settings.
- Travel across metropolitan Sydney and occasionally regional NSW, including driving a Reverse Garbage van or ute where required.
- Set up, pack down and maintain workshop materials, teaching kits, equipment and workshop spaces.
- Communicate professionally with teachers, educators, clients, carers and community partners.
- Collect client feedback and share observations with the Education Manager to support program improvement.
- Represent Reverse Garbage in a warm, professional and values-aligned way.
We are looking for someone who
- Has experience delivering educational, training or group learning programs to a diverse range of audiences.
- Is confident working with children and young people, including early years and primary-aged students.
- Is comfortable presenting and facilitating in front of groups.
- Is available during the week, primarily during school hours.
- Works well independently and as part of a team.
- Is passionate about creative reuse, sustainability and helping others see waste differently.
- Can adapt to different groups, spaces and changing environments.
- Is organised, reliable and practical.
- Values safe, inclusive and engaging learning environments.
Essential qualifications
- A valid Working with Children Check.
- A current NSW driver’s licence or equivalent. Provisional licences, including P-plates, are accepted.
Desirable qualifications and experience
- Relevant qualifications and/or experience in education, facilitation, sustainability, creative reuse or a related area.
- Experience working with children and young people.
- Experience delivering curriculum-linked programs or educational workshops.
- Knowledge of reuse principles, waste education, sustainability and circular economy.
- Experience working with diverse groups and a range of ages and abilities.
- A passion for working with kids and supporting people to learn through creativity.
