JOB TYPE: Casual Educator
LOCATION: Reverse Garbage, 30 Carrington Road, Marrickville as well as offsite
REPORTS TO: Education Manager
DIRECT REPORTS: none
SALARY: as per Children’s Services Award [MA000120] Level 2.1
We are on the lookout for passionate casual educators for our diverse educational programs. Started by teachers in 1975, Reverse Garbage is focused on sustainability education. Since then, our education programs have grown exponentially! We provide education programs and activities for students from early childhood to tertiary, as well as professional development for educators. Our programs promote reuse through creativity, upcycling skills and visual arts. You can check out our current programs here to get a sense of the work we do.
Casual educators will be responsible for running our existing programs working both as a team and independently as needed with the support of our education team.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience delivering educational programs to a diverse range of audiences (eg. in a school, class, early learning, vacation care or other setting).
- Is available to work during the week, primarily during school hours.
- Thrives in both team environments and when working independently.
- Is passionate about creative reuse, sustainability, and inspiring others to see waste differently.
- Can adapt easily to different groups, spaces, and changing environments.
Essential Qualifications:
- A valid Working with Children Check
- A current NSW driver’s licence (or equivalent). Provisional licences (P-plates) are accepted.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- A tertiary qualification in education and/or relevant experience working with children
- A strong knowledge of reuse principles and circular economy
- Experience working with diverse groups (eg. disability groups)
- A can-do attitude and a passion for working with kids!
