Programming with Reverse Garbage is an engaging, hands-on way for people to learn about the importance of sustainable practices and develop the skills for creative re-use. We have a variety of programs that are suitable for all ages, and can work with your team for any special interest or event programs. We can run both drop-in and session-based workshops depending on your needs and the requirements for the program.
Reverse Garbage loves to help your community celebrate! We have been at many festival with craft activities to match the event to help community members make memories and learn more about sustainable crafting choices. We work with a range of councils and community organisations to tailor programs to their needs, such a book binding with a local library or sewing skills for teens at a community center. We are always happy to help find a program suited to your needs. We also offer a range of programs for Early Learning Centers and Out of School Hours Care service. These creative programs introduce all learners to sustainability in an age-appropriate and engaging manner. We offer both incursions and excursions year round. You can visit our Education Hub or we can come to you!
At Reverse Garbage we strongly advocate for Australia to transition to a circular economy as a way to further mitigate the effects of climate change and reduce our environmental impact. Reuse leads the way as the preferred method of dealing with waste, after consumption reduction, as part of the resource hierarchy model. Prioritising the reuse of existing materials such as industrial cast-offs, allows these items to be diverted from landfill and helps to breed creativity and waste innovation.
Drop-in Activities

Fabulous Florals
Craft your own beautiful bouquet inspired by native Australian flowers! Using materials such as fabric, zips, buttons, laces and much more, transform ordinary materials into home decor. By the end of the day, you’ll not only leave with your own handmade floral masterpiece but also a renewed sense of inspiration and a deeper understanding of the importance of sustainability. Join us in this exciting and eco-friendly adventure, and together, let’s make a positive impact on our planet. This workshop is suitable for all ages, and experience levels.

Kooky Characters
Everybody gets a little silly in this workshop as they imagine and make a kooky character to take home. Our re-use materials sourced from industrial discards and can inspire some truly crazy creations. Kids and families can think through how they can express a personality through the available materials and test their problem-solving skills as they work without glue to piece it all together. This workshop has a strong emphasis on Zero waste making, encouraging kids to make careful decisions about how they use materials.

Giant Loose Parts Play
One of our foundational programs, Loose Parts Play is an open-ended play experience that supports kids’ development of risk management, self-confidence, imagination, and communication skills. We bring our van of open-ended play materials such as PVC pipes, buckets, banner, and so much more to your location. This family friendly activity is lots of fun at festivals and events, activating outdoor spaces to provide a creative outlet for kids of all ages. This program is suitable for kids and families.
