Our workshops are a fun and engaging activity for kids in vacation care. Delivered by creative reuse experts, they are designed to cater to the interests and skills of a range of age groups.
Our skilled team of educators will get the kids working with materials from our vast array of industrial discards and quirky leftovers. The kids will get the chance to design and make something to take home with them, as well as being encouraged to think about sustainability and the value of creative reuse.
Reverse Garbage can create a fun and engaging activity at your vacation care program. Our skilled and creative team will arrive with enough material for your participants to make fun, interesting and useful objects or to work on a big group project from our vast array of reuse materials, industrial discards and quirky objects.
While enjoying a creative activity the children can expand their thinking about reuse, be innovative and enjoy the satisfaction of making something themselves.

OOSH/Vacation Care Workshops

Creator Club
Duration: 1.5 hours (or longer if you wish)
Venue: your place or ours
Capacity: 30 students per class, can cater to larger groups
This program leans towards free exploration of a range of materials that could be found around the house as well as Reverse Garbage exclusive industrial offcuts. Students lean into their imaginative skills to make their very own creation to take home – we’ve seen everything from bugs to rocket ships to jewellery get made. Our educators will assist students in techniques to connect different types of materials from tying, pining, and re-using stickers in place of conventional glue and tape. This program is intended to get students thinking about all the items in their lives that could be repurposed into interesting art projects.

Big box city
Duration: 90 minutes
Venue: Your place or ours
Age: Designed for Stage 1 students (but can be adapted to other levels)
Capacity: 30 students per class, can cater to larger groups
In this program students explore what goes into building a thriving city by working both individually and collaboratively to make a model city out of reclaimed materials. Our education team emphasises environmentally friendly aspects of building such as the importance of solar panels and green spaces to teach kids at a young age the range of ways that we as citizens and communities can make healthier choices for our environment. We also emphasise no glue or tape in this workshop, which challenges students to think of more complex ways to build such as tying materials together or using simple wood joinery techniques like slots and tabs.
This activity does not use glue and teaches joining using more sustainable methods.

Giant Loose Parts Play
Duration: 90 minutes
Venue: Your place or ours
Age: Designed for Stage 1 students (but can be adapted to other levels)
Capacity: 30 students per class, can cater to larger groups
One of our foundational programs, Loose Parts Play is an open-ended play experience that supports students’ development of risk management, self-confidence, imagination, and communication skills. We bring our van of open-ended play materials such as PVC pipes, buckets, banner, and so much more to your centre. Once set up in an open space we’ll give the kids a brief run down about how all our play materials have been reclaimed from landfill and how to use them safely before setting them up to explore. Watch as children repurpose items, making bands, boats, and ball games over the course of the session.
